ABOUTWhen children must be removed from their family to ensure their safety, the first goal is to reunite them with their family as soon as possible.
Reunification counseling services use multifaceted strategies that build on family strengths and address concerns. Such strategies may include:
Returning children to their home often requires intensive, family-centered services to support a safe and stable family. Services are tailored to each family's circumstances and address the issue(s) that separated the child(ren) from their family. Working collaboratively with parents, the goal of our family-centered reunification counseling services is to facilitate the child's return home more quickly than if parents were not involved. Engaging parents in the planning process can help ensure they receive the services and support needed for the child's safe return.
When working toward reunification, parents may feel hopeless or disheartened. Our therapists act as a compassionate beacon for parents, providing tools and information to support them in strengthening and reuniting their family. Our therapists use a cognitive behavior and trauma-focused approach to help parents to face their challenges and restore their families. Parents discover and practice new ways in which they can create a happy, healthy, and well-functioning family.
Our independent, certified, licensed mental, social, and behavioral health counselors have a common passion of helping to reunite families. We are a community-based agency; our services are provided in the comfort and privacy of a family's home.
Reunification counseling services are available directly to families and as a referral through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).
